Battle of Qihui: A face-off that turned flatland into fortress

In the spring of 1939, Japanese forces launched a series of raids in north China, hoping to wipe out Chinese resistance and strengthen their grip over the region. The Eighth Route Army’s 120th Division moved in. Although the battlefield was flat, it was the people – their full support and coordinated defense – who became the “invisible mountains” that shielded the Chinese forces. Eventually, their victory at Qihui shattered the enemy’s plans.
