This summer, libraries across China have seen a surge in visitors. In the early morning hours in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province, long lines form outside the provincial library as eager visitors wait for the doors to open. The library's cool, quiet environment, along with a series of upgraded services, has made it a popular spot for many young people. Doors open at 8 a.m., and all 670 self-study seats are quickly taken.
