The sports contested at the 2025 Chengdu World Games are not included in the Olympics and lifesaving is one of them. It combines important water safety practices with intense racing competition and is no less exciting than traditional swimming events. CGTN Sports Scene's Mike Fox talked to some participants about why the event transcends sport.

Nina Holt of Germany broke the world record in the women's 100-meter rescue medley to win the first gold medal for her country. She loves the sport, not only because it motivates her to work hard and push her limits, but also because she can always make new friends after competition.

Lucrezia Fabretti of Italy secured two lifesaving titles in Chengdu, one in the women's 100m manikin carry with fins, and the other in the women's 200m super lifesaver. She could barely hold back her excitement and expressed her gratitude toward her coach and family while expressing her love for fans in China.

A total of eight lifesaving golds were awarded on Friday. Athletes will compete for another eight on Saturday.
