In April 1942, in the burning oil fields of Burma (now Myanmar), less than 800 Chinese soldiers took on a mission no one thought possible – to rescue over 7,000 trapped British troops and 500 U.S. civilians from a deadly Japanese siege. Among the brave Chinese soldiers was 16-year-old Tan Rongsheng, who fought through relentless gunfire, was stabbed more than a dozen times, and still saved lives. This was China's first overseas victory in WWII, a bold act of sacrifice that showed the world what loyalty to allies truly means.
