Deep in the Tianshan Mountains lies Sayram Lake, the highest and largest alpine lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Its nickname, the "Last Tear of the Atlantic," comes from a poetic meteorological journey: warm, moist air from the Atlantic Ocean travels over 7,000 kilometers across mountains and plains, finally meeting the Tianshan Mountains. Here, it releases its moisture, creating a turquoise lake of dazzling clarity.

In summer, melting glaciers feed Sayram, and the surrounding meadows explode with wildflowers. The lake takes on the stunning shade locals call "Sayram blue," framed by snow-capped peaks and vast grasslands.

Visitors can enjoy a scenic drive around the lake, immersing themselves in the breathtaking beauty of Sayram blue. For the more adventurous, there's skydiving from 4,700 meters, paragliding over the shoreline or sailing on a wind-powered catamaran, each of which offers a new perspective on the lake's vast beauty.

In recent years, ecological restoration and upgraded facilities have made the area more accessible while protecting its fragile environment. With its blend of stunning natural landscape, unique climate and exciting activities, Sayram Lake has become one of China's most popular destinations, drawing nature lovers, photographers and thrill-seekers alike.
