At least one person died and 29 others were injured as a magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck northwestern Türkiye's Balikesir Province on August 10. Officials said that over a dozen buildings also collapsed due to the earthquake. With its epicenter in the town of Sindirgi, the quake sent shockwaves that were felt some 200 kilometers to the north in Istanbul.
