Over 700 years ago, the Italian explorer Marco Polo traveled through China, where he praised the city of Chengdu in southwest China's Sichuan Province in his book "The Travels of Marco Polo." Polo made special mention of the Anshun Covered Bridge over the Jinjiang River, noting its bustling trade and vibrant atmosphere.
Through centuries of change, the bridge – rebuilt and restored multiple times – still stands proudly over the Jinjiang River, bearing witness to the city's enduring prosperity and openness. Chengdu has long been known for its prized products, such as Shu brocade and tea, and for its lively commerce with the outside world. From its role as a vital hub on the ancient Southern Silk Road and the Tea Horse Road, Chengdu has continued to maintain this reputation.
