Chinese military on Wednesday expelled the destroyer USS Higgins after it illegally trespassed into Chinese territorial waters off the Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea, a spokesperson said.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command deployed forces to track, monitor, and expel the warship following relevant laws and regulations, said He Tiecheng, the command's spokesperson, on Wednesday.
