China's Xizang White Paper: Scholar says 'no desire to argue with the West'

03:51

On the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Xizang Autonomous Region, Sun Shu, assistant researcher at the China Tibetology Research Center, told CGTN's Mi Sutong that Western perspectives on human rights and education in Xizang are often distorted.

She noted that the white paper "Human Rights in Xizang in the New Era," released by the State Council Information Office in March, provides an official, clear and detailed account of policies and progress. Education is one of the most popular and successful policies, with enrollment approaching 100 percent. Youth employment is supported through public welfare jobs and a three-year return-home subsidy for graduates. Sun emphasized that China remains a key contributor and strong advocate for human rights worldwide.
