Heavy rains lashed large parts of southern China on August 14 after Typhoon Podul made its second landfall along the coast of Fujian Province.

Torrential rains also battered Guangdong Province, forcing the closure of several beaches, suspending 22 train services and canceling six flights, while local authorities issued red alerts.
