Memories of Nankou

06:12

On August 8, 1937, just a month after Japan's full-scale invasion, the Battle of Nankou erupted near Beijing, one of the earliest major defensive battles in north China after the July 7 Incident. For two decades, a local resident has combed the Great Wall's slopes and ridges, uncovering bullet casings, buttons and even the remains of fallen soldiers. Each relic is a silent witness – proof that to remember is, itself, an act of resistance.
