The 2025 Chengdu World Games in China will conclude on Sunday night and athletes found time to explore the host city after their busy schedules. Sports Scene's Mike Fox was joined by two Irish racquetball players, Jonathon O'Keeney and Aisling Marie Hickey and a local colleague, Zhang Chenmeng of the Chengdu Media Group, for a visit to the Yulin Market hunting for local cuisine and souvenirs.
Bo Bo Ji (Sichuan Spicy Chicken) is a local specialty served in a large bowl with numerous bamboo skewers packed closely together. Tender chicken pieces, crunchy vegetables, and black fungus are threaded onto these skewers and immersed in a special Sichuan spicy soup, offering a unique and delicious taste.
Both enjoyed the food and Hickey also found her much-wanted panda plushie that she'd been eyeing as the perfect souvenir.
