The Bell Tower is an iconic landmark and cultural symbol of Shaanxi's provincial capital Xi'an, a city with over 3,100 years of history. Built in 1384 – early in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) – it is China's largest and best-preserved bell tower. Rising 36 meters (118 feet), it features a brick-and-wood structure, with three eaves resting on solid floors and four corners converging at the top.
