On August 17, local time, the Israeli military announced plans to advance further into Gaza City and relocate residents southward, offering tents and other supplies ahead of a planned operation to seize control of the city. The move has immediately sparked international condemnation. CGTN Stringer in Gaza took to the streets of Khan Yunis to interview several local residents, who described the hardships they are currently facing and shared their opinions on the actions of the Israeli military.

Mohammed Fusefis, a local refugee, says that life in Gaza is extremely hard under constant bombings, with widespread destruction and limited basic supplies. 81-year-old Hamdan Al-Breem recalled living through multiple wars since 1948 but says he has never faced such tough conditions. Despite worries for their children’s future, residents stay committed to their land, choosing to remain even if it risks their lives.
