Shanghai Book Fair blends literature, lifestyle in Yangtze River Delta

The charm of reading now pervades the entire Yangtze River Delta. Centered in Shanghai, the 2025 Shanghai Book Fair has brought together more than 30 bookstores and dealers from the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, offering tens of thousands of books and cultural products. Across the two main venues, a total of 1,267 reading events have been held – nearly 24 percent up from last year. From Shakespeare-themed literary goods to traditional Chinese hair ornaments, the Book Fair provides readers with a space where culture meets commerce, boosting cultural consumption and opening new growth opportunities. Blending the Book Fair with city tours, reading breathes new life into urban travel, bringing people and books together.
