Henan FC beat hosts Chengdu Rongcheng 4-3 on penalties in the Chinese FA Cup semifinals and advanced to the final for the first time in club history.

Ranked 12th in the Chinese Super League, Henan, in blue stunned fourth-placed Chengdu 3-2 in the CSL in June. The visitors came close in the 32nd minute when Frank Acheampong ran into the box but hit the left post. In the 64th minute, Henan's corner was headed off the post by Lucas Maia for another close call.

Chengdu got a golden opportunity to score a stoppage-time winner, but Felipe Silva's shot was saved by Wang Guoming and he collected Chow Tim's follow up and the match went to extra time. In the 95th minute, Timo Letschert headed in a set-piece for Rongcheng, but the goal was cancelled due to a push from the Dutch defender.

In the penalty shoot-out, Chengdu's Romulo fired well over the bar. Then Maia did the same for Henan. Goalkeeper Wang became the hero for Henan as he saved Letschert's shot to win the shootout 4-3. Daniel Ramos' side created history by reaching the final, where they will meet either Beijing Guoan or Yunnan Yukun who face off Wednesday evening.
