Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday attended a gala marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, is in Lhasa, the capital of the region, to attend activities celebrating the anniversary.

Song and dance performances at the gala showcased vivid scenes of the building a socialist new Xizang and the vitality that reform and opening up have brought to the region, reflecting the glorious history of Xizang Autonomous Region over the past 60 years since its founding.
Wang Huning, Cai Qi and other senior officials also attended the event.
