Residents and officials in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region felt deeply inspired to build a modern socialist Xizang that is united, prosperous, civilized, harmonious and beautiful after Chinese President Xi Jinping led a central delegation to attend celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region.
President Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, left Xizang after attending the celebrations on Thursday.
Padma Drolkar, a female resident in Lhasa, said President Xi has always kept Xizang and its people close to his heart. "We are full of confidence in the future, and we believe our lives will only improve and become sweeter," she said.
Zhang Aihua, deputy director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Shannan City, mentioned that he, as an agricultural worker, has seen the region's agriculture leap forward from small-scale to strong and vibrant.
None of this would have been possible without the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the tremendous support of people across the country, Zhang said.
Zhang added that the next step is to implement policies that increase farmers' and herders' income and to develop modern agriculture and animal husbandry into promising sectors.
Nyima Tsering, deputy Party secretary of a village in Dingri County, which was hit by a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in January, said President Xi emphasized the importance of continuing post-disaster reconstruction in the county.
"His constant concern for affected people has deeply moved us. All 126 households in our village have moved into new houses. We will fully leverage the role of grassroots Party organizations as strongholds and lead our people in building an even better and happier life."
Xu Chunhe, chief leader of the 11th batch of aid-Xizang cadres and professionals, said, "President Xi's care and earnest expectations have inspired and energized us all .... We must forge ahead with determination and fulfill our duties to complete all tasks related to aiding Xizang."
