Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday that China is willing to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of two countries and continue to develop the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while holding the the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistani deputy prime minister and foreign minister, in Islamabad.
Wang said China is ready to work with the Pakistani side to make preparations for high-level exchanges in the second half of this year.
China is, Wang added, willing to put the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future at the forefront of the building of a neighborhood community with a shared future, so as to better benefit the people of the two countries, and serve as a model for maintaining regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.
He also called on the two countries to jointly uphold the multilateral trading system and oppose unilateralism.
China is ready to work with Pakistan to upgrade the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor regarding industry, agriculture and mining, Wang said, adding that it hopes to deepen cooperation in such areas as information technology, cybersecurity and cultural exchanges.
China hopes Pakistan will continue to create a safe, efficient and convenient business environment and effectively safeguard the safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
Dar thanked China for its firm and continuous support to Pakistan. He said Pakistan and China have strong political mutual trust, and bilateral relations have reached new heights, becoming a model for relations between countries.
Pakistan firmly abides by the one-China principle, and supports China in safeguarding its national interests and dignity, he noted.
Dar added that Pakistan is committed to upholding international law and the basic norms governing international relations and opposes unilateralism. Pakistan fully supports China's work as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and will make joint efforts to ensure the success of the Tianjin Summit, he said.
He also echoed Wang's call for the upgrade of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said Pakistan will firmly support the building of a Pakistan-China community with a shared future, as well as the Belt and Road Initiative.
He added that Pakistan will make every effort to combat all forms of terrorism and take all measures to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan.
