In the spring of 1940, as the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression raged across China, Li Lin, the only female guerrilla commander in the Jin-Sui Border Region, penned a heartfelt final letter to her husband, Qu Jian, while surrounded by enemy forces. A young mother-to-be and skilled warrior, Li Lin expressed her worries for her husband's safety and her child's well-being, all while preparing to face the enemy's next attack. Tragically, at just 24 years old, she died heroically on the battlefield. Born in Zhangzhou City, southeast China's Fujian Province, and raised in Indonesia under Dutch colonial rule, Li Lin's courage and sacrifice continue to inspire the nation.
