A magnitude-7.4 earthquake jolted the Drake Passage at 10:16 a.m. Friday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 60.25 degrees south latitude and 62.30 degrees west longitude. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, CENC said.
Chile's Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service issued a tsunami precaution for the Chilean Antarctic territory after the quake.
