The central delegation to southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Saturday flew back to Beijing after attending the region's 60th anniversary celebrations, visiting local officials and residents, and inspecting economic and social development in Xizang.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the central delegation, visited the city of Xigaze with the main group of the delegation on Saturday morning.

Wang stressed the need to fully implement the Party's policies for the governance of Xizang in the new era while pursuing more progress to ensure enduring stability and promote the high-quality development of the autonomous region.

Other groups of the delegation visited Qamdo, Nagqu, Nyingchi and Shannan to learn about local efforts in the sectors of education, medical and healthcare, and cultural relic protection.

A farewell ceremony was held when the central delegation departed.
