At the Oval Office, FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the FIFA World Cup trophy to U.S. President Donald Trump, explaining that only heads of state and champions are allowed to touch it. Trump admired the trophy and asked, half-jokingly, if he could keep it, calling it "a beautiful piece of gold." Infantino politely responded that the trophy must be passed on to the next winner, leaving Trump’s playful request unfulfilled.
