Thousands of people marched in Tel Aviv, Israel, on August 23, demanding an immediate halt to Israel's military campaign in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages. Demonstrators gathered at Habima Square, carrying signs that read "Stop the War" and "Sabotaging Deals Kills Hostages." The protest came as the UN-backed food security body confirmed famine in Gaza City earlier this month. More than 62,600 Palestinians have been reported killed since October 2023.
