Danton Kipkurui is a Kenyan engineer at Huawei, Nairobi, who works on projects increasing the telecom sector's use of sustainable energy sources.
Growing up, Kipkurui witnessed drought killing livestock and devastating Kenyan communities. In 2022, he and his friends developed Wise AI, an application integrating IoT sensors, satellite imagery and weather forecasts that helps cattle farmers map the location of their herds and plan ahead to minimize losses. Kipkurui says he's proud his invention proves technology can save lives and livelihoods.
