A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday stated that China strongly opposes construction activities by relevant countries on islands and reefs that are occupied illegally.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made these remarks during a regular press briefing in response to a question about Vietnam's recent island-building efforts in the South China Sea.
Guo noted that Nansha Qundao is China's inherent territory and emphasized that China will take necessary measures to protect its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
