In 1938, Taierzhuang saw one of the bloodiest battles of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a victory that forged national unity after years of conflict.

Decades later, the 1986 film "The Bloody Battle of Taierzhuang" commemorated this bravery, portraying the Kuomintang army positively. The film is credited with paving the way for long-separated families across the Straits to reunite.
