China's top legislator Zhao Leji and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Park Byeong-seug, special envoy of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, respectively in Beijing on Tuesday.
Zhao, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that the heads of state of China and South Korea have reached important consensus on deepening the bilateral strategic cooperative partnership, pointing out the direction for the development of relations.
China stands ready to work with South Korea to adhere to mutual respect, enhance dialogue and communication, deepen practical cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote the steady and long-term development of bilateral relations, Zhao added.
The NPC is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with South Korea's National Assembly to contribute to the sustained and positive development of bilateral relations, Zhao said.
For his part, Park said the new South Korean government attaches great importance to developing a mature and stable relationship with China.
He noted that South Korea is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continuously enhance political mutual trust, strengthen friendly feelings between the two peoples, bring bilateral relations back on track, and jointly promote regional peace, stability and development.

During his meeting with Park, Vice President Han Zheng said China is willing to work with South Korea to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate strategic mutual trust, expand common interests, enhance multilateral coordination, and promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.
Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula, Han said China is ready to work with the international community, including South Korea, to jointly safeguard the outcomes of the victory of World War II and uphold true multilateralism.
Park said the new South Korean government attaches great importance to its relations with China and respects the one-China principle.
South Korea is willing to bring the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries back on track for the benefit of the people of both countries under the guidance of the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, he added.
