In our series "Art Amid the Flames," we explore how Chinese artists, scholars, and institutions kept culture and creativity alive during the War of Resistance. Amid the upheaval of the early 1930s, as Japan's aggression spread across China, a young musician composed a melody that would inspire a nation. Nie Er, who died at the age of just 23, created "March of the Volunteers" – a song of courage, hope, and unity that later became China's national anthem. CGTN's Yang Jinghao explores the places that shaped his life and how his spirit still resonates today.
