A cultural exchange event, "Echoes of Peace," was held in Mexico City on Saturday, highlighting the necessity to remember the great sacrifice made during the World Anti-Fascist War, while calling for global efforts to maintain peace.
Co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico and China Media Group (CMG), the event brought together over 150 guests from Mexico's political, media, cultural sectors and think tanks.
CMG President Shen Haixiong said in a video message to the event that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Eighty years ago, China and the world's forces of justice stood shoulder to shoulder in defeating fascism. Today, we are honored to invite international friends to the commemoration to remember those years of shared struggle.
He added that CMG is ready to deepen cooperation with global partners, integrating "ideas, art and technology" to build a media platform for news reporting, information exchange and resource sharing. The aim is to amplify China's voice against hegemony, for fairness and justice, while advancing unity to meet challenges and cooperation for common development.
During the event, several guests engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics, including the significance of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, the contributions of Global South countries to building a new international order, youth exchanges between Mexico and China, and building a China-Latin American countries' community with a shared future.
