A wild Siberian tiger, the first of its kind that China rescued and released back into the wild in 2021, named Wandashan No.1, has been sighted in a national park in the northeast of the country.

Infrared camera footage captured this month shows the apex predator in robust condition, with glossy fur and sturdy build, roaming free in the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park, in China's Dongning region.

GPS collar data and long-term monitoring shows the male tiger, thought to be about six to seven years old, has adapted well to the wild, ranging across northeastern China and into Russia, making the most of habitat conservation efforts.
