China is ready to work with Belarus to shoulder the responsibilities of the times, practice true multilateralism, and promote world peace, development, cooperation and win-win results, President Xi Jinping said on Sunday.
Xi made the remarks while meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is in north China's Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, as well as commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Xi said the Chinese and Belarusian peoples once fought side by side and made significant contributions to defeating militarism and fascism, forging a profound friendship.
Noting that the China-Belarus all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained high-level momentum, he called on both sides to continue mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthen the alignment of their development strategies.
The Chinese president urged efforts to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces to help the two countries' development and revitalization, and expand exchanges in areas such as education, culture, tourism and youth to boost mutual understanding.
Xi also called on the two countries to work together in multilateral mechanisms such as the SCO and BRICS to promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
For his part, Lukashenko said China upholds an impartial stance in international and regional affairs, champions multilateralism, safeguards fairness and justice, and promotes cooperation through mechanisms such as the SCO, making significant contributions to peace and stability in Eurasia and beyond.
Belarus, as China's all-weather partner and reliable friend, is ready to strengthen exchanges of governance experience, deepen practical cooperation across various fields, and advance the development of bilateral relations, he said.
The two countries also signed multiple cooperation documents in areas such as technology, finance, media, transportation and customs inspection and quarantine.
