China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to continue mutual support, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, and work together to build a close China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future, Chinese President Xi Jinping said when meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in the port city of Tianjin on Sunday.
Japarov is in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025, as well as commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Underscoring the need to deepen practical cooperation, Xi called on the two countries to expand cooperation in emerging areas including clean energy and artificial intelligence (AI).
He also urged efforts to enhance cooperation in culture, tourism, education, health and other areas to strengthen people-to-people ties.
China will fully support Kyrgyzstan in assuming the rotating presidency of the SCO and backs the country in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, Xi said, adding that China will work with the country to uphold the UN-centered international system and contribute further to world peace and development.
Japarov said his country is willing to learn from China's experience and enhance cooperation in areas such as connectivity, clean energy, AI, and sci-tech innovation, so as to bring more benefits to the people.
He noted that on issues concerning China's core interests, including the Taiwan question, Kyrgyzstan will, as always, firmly support China's position.
The Kyrgyz side highly appreciates and supports the three major global initiatives proposed by China and is ready to strengthen multilateral coordination to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice, Japarov added.
The two sides also signed bilateral cooperation documents in areas such as connectivity, human resources, civil aviation, and sub-national cooperation.
