Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Monday invited the spouses of foreign leaders attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 for a tour along the Haihe River in Tianjin.
Peng welcomed the guests with warm handshakes and a group photo. At the pier, children sang and waved foreign national flags to greet the visitors.
On board, the group listened to an introduction about Tianjin's history and development. Peng highlighted the city's rich history and modern charm, noting that the Haihe River bears witness to Tianjin's growth and its blend of diverse cultures.
She expressed hope that the gathering would leave everyone with pleasant and lasting memories.
The guests took in the riverside scenery, enjoyed tea and conversation, and listened to a sanxian performance. They also went on deck for photos. Many praised China's cultural heritage and spoke highly of the notable achievements of Chinese modernization, according to China Media Group.
