The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 is being held from August 31 to September 1. This is the fifth time China has hosted the event and the summit is the largest in the organization's history. Leaders from more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations have gathered in northern China's port city of Tianjin to review the SCO's achievements, chart its future course and push forward toward building a closer SCO community with a shared future.
In this episode, CGTN Stringer visited Pakistan, a member state of the SCO, to interview experts, scholars and local residents about their understanding and expectations for the organization. "SCO has become a major plank of Asia, of the Global South," Pakistani expert Mushahid Hussain Syed says.
The SCO has always upheld the "Shanghai Spirit" of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diverse civilizations and pursuit of common development. What are your thoughts on this?
