China continues to play a constructive role in Ukraine crisis, says foreign ministry

China's position on the Ukraine crisis is consistent and clear, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Guo made the remarks when asked to comment on Ukraine's Foreign Ministry's call for China to play "a more active role" during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China and "help find peace."

Since day one of the crisis, China has been committed to upholding an objective and just position and promoting talks for peace, Guo said.

"China stands ready to work with the international community, in light of the will of the parties concerned, to continue playing a constructive role for the political settlement of the crisis," he said.
