China and Tajikistan should deepen the alignment of their development strategies and promote cooperation in various fields, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday, when meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Tajikistan cooperation has continuously achieved new results, Xi said, noting that China has become Tajikistan's largest trading partner, while a series of cooperation projects have made new progress.
As a comprehensive strategic partner, China is willing to work hand in hand with Tajikistan to build a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future, Xi added.
China is willing to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Tajikistan and support the two sides in expanding cooperation in areas such as new energy vehicles (NEVs), the digital economy and infrastructure development, and deepening exchanges in disaster prevention and mitigation, healthcare, culture and education, Xi said.
The two sides should continue to advance counter-terrorism cooperation, jointly combat the three evils of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and safeguard the common strategic interests between the two sides, Xi said.
Xi urged China and Tajikistan to strengthen collaboration in multilateral affairs, jointly implement the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) and promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system.
Both China and Tajikistan made tremendous sacrifices for the victory in World War II and the two sides should resolutely safeguard the fruits of the victory and work together to advance the noble cause of world peace and development, Xi said.
Rahmon said that Tajikistan attaches great importance to its relations with China, and strengthening cooperation between the two sides serves the common interests of both countries.
Tajikistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and will always be a reliable partner of China, Rahmon said, noting that Tajikistan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in a wide range of areas, including economy and trade, green economy, digital economy and infrastructure construction, and welcomes Chinese companies to invest and do business in Tajikistan.
China has actively played its role as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, propelling the organization into a new stage of development and making significant contributions to regional peace and stability, Rahmon said.
He expressed his congratulations over the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, adding that humanity should remember history and create a better future.
The GGI proposed by President Xi reflects the vision and responsibility of a world-class leader, Tajikistan fully supports the initiative and is willing to work with China to promote its implementation and make international governance more rational and effective, he noted.
The two sides signed a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of connectivity, green and low-carbon development and digital economy.
