China's V-Day military parade is set to take place in Tian'anmen Square, Beijing on September 3, marking the 80th anniversary of victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The parade is intended to symbolize China's commitment to peace and firm defense of international fairness and justice.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victories, in 2015, that "the Chinese people love peace."
"No matter how much stronger it may become, China will never seek hegemony or expansion. It will never inflict its past suffering on any other nation," Xi said.
Here are some of his key quotes on China's commitment to peace.
