"Defending the Yellow River" is the seventh movement of "Yellow River Cantata." The Yellow River is also called the Mother River by the Chinese. The cantata portrays the river as the symbol of the nation's strength and the spirit of the War of Resistance. It highlights Chinese people's courage and resolution to "defend the Yellow River, defend the motherland, and defend the whole nation."
