China's V-Day parade on Wednesday honored hero unit troops that fought during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Eighty honorary banners of the troops were displayed under the Banner Formation in the parade.

The honorary banners reviewed were selected from across the military, representing the five major theater commands of war and encompassing the Army, Navy, Air Force and Armed Police Force. They were composed of representatives from honored units at the regimental, battalion, and company levels.

Among them is the banner of the "Yang Jingyu Detachment." In February 1940, Yang Jingyu, commander-in-chief of the first route army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, fought to his last breath after being surrounded by Japanese forces in the frozen forests. When his body was examined, it was found that his stomach contained only bark, grass and cotton. This was the first time the "Yang Jingyu Detachment" participated in a military parade.

"These banners were selected from honored units, including the Eighth Route Army, New Fourth Army, Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, South China guerrilla forces. They epitomize the arduous battles fought by our army and bear witness to the hardships and glory of our army's resistance against Japanese aggression," said Wu Zeke, deputy director of the Office of the Leading Group for the Military Parade and a senior officer of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, at a recent press conference.

"Each banner bears the sacrifices and dedication of anti-Japanese heroes and is engraved with the glorious deeds of defending our country," Wu said, adding that the formation's participation in the parade shows deep remembrance of their meritorious service and honor and will inspire all officers and soldiers of the army to make new contributions in the journey of strengthening the army.
