Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday greeted veterans before the official start of the commemorative meeting of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing.
In their 90s and above, these veterans are from the Eighth Route Army, the South China guerrilla forces and the Kuomintang. They fought the 14-year war that ended in 1945 with Japan's unconditional surrender.
During the fight against the Japanese aggression, the Chinese established a united front to safeguard their homeland.
