Family of late US General Stilwell cherish enduring ties with China

US General Joseph Stilwell, who served as commander-in-chief of the United States armed forces in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II, offered strong support to the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. His bond with China has been carried forward by generations of his family.

In 1982, Stilwell's daughters established a scholarship fund to help Chinese students pursue studies at American universities. Over the past four decades, the fund has supported dozens of students.

Stilwell's great-granddaughters, Nancy Millward and Susan Cole, were among those who were invited to attend a grand commemorative event in Beijing's Tian'anmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Ahead of the event, the family embarked on a historical journey through China and expressed their willingness to continue the legacy of wartime cooperation between China and the United States.
