Senior Chinese leaders meet visiting foreign leaders in Beijing

China's top legislator, Zhao Leji, on Wednesday met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, saying China-Tajikistan relations are at their best in history.

Rahmon, who is visiting China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025 and the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Noting that President Xi Jinping met with President Rahmon on Tuesday to make new arrangements for advancing the two countries' comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said China is ready to work with Tajikistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders. He added that the NPC of China is willing to collaborate with the Tajik parliament to deepen exchanges and provide legal guarantees for practical cooperation between the two nations.

Rahmon stated that relations with China are a key focus of Tajikistan's foreign policy. He mentioned that Tajikistan is eager to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, economy and trade, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and security, while also strengthening interactions between legislative bodies.

Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Cai Qi on Wednesday also met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Beijing. 

Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said that China is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthen the China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future.

Japarov stated that the grand commemorative event highlighted the importance of remembering history and protecting peace, while also showing China's global influence.

Japarov said that Kyrgyzstan strongly supports China's stance on issues related to its core interests and will keep working actively to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday.

Han said that China is willing to work together with Armenia to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, fully promote cooperation in various areas, and steadily advance bilateral relations to a new level.

Pashinyan said Armenia values and supports the Global Governance Initiative and sees the formation of a strategic partnership as an opportunity to enhance practical cooperation with China for the benefit of both peoples.

Han also met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong in Beijing on Thursday, respectively.

Fico and Gan are in China for commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

In his meeting with Fico, Han said China stands ready to work with Slovakia to enhance the exchange of governance experience and further expand and deepen practical cooperation under the strategic guidance of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries.

Fico said Slovakia remains firmly committed to deepening the strategic partnership with China, supports the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), and looks forward to strengthening inter-party exchanges with China.

During his meeting with Gan, Han expressed China's willingness to work with Singapore to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote further development of bilateral relations.

Gan spoke positively of the GGI and noted that China's economic outlook remains sound in the long run with enormous potential. He also expressed confidence in the broad prospects of Singapore-China cooperation and looked forward to deepening and expanding practical cooperation while enhancing friendly exchanges between the two countries.
