Chinese President Xi Jinping "expressed sincere gratitude to foreign governments and international friends who supported and assisted the Chinese people in resisting aggression" during his speech at a grand commemorative meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun at a Thursday press conference.
Guo made the remarks in response to a question about U.S. President Donald Trump's comment that the Chinese parade should have highlighted America's role in ending the war in the Pacific.
President Xi Jinping noted that, with huge national sacrifice, the Chinese people made major contributions to saving human civilization and safeguarding world peace," Guo added.
