'Tourism + fishery' mode promotes herdsmen's income at Sayram Lake

Hailed as the last tear of Atlantic, the Sayram Lake Scenic Area in northwestern Xinjiang attracts many visitors each year for its beautiful landscape of a lake, mountains, forests, prairies, glaciers, rich plankton species and rare animals. 

Apart from the natural scenery, tourists can also enjoy various amusement activities on and around the lake, including cruising, kayaking, horse cart riding and archery.

After strolling along the lake bank, sitting down and enjoy a banquet of cold-water fish is an ideal choice. Starting from 1998, local authorities introduced some chub species from Russia and the lake has become a crucial fish production base in Xinjiang.

Now the scenic spot has formed a tourism plus fishery mode to drive the local economic development and help herdsmen increase their income.
