China's Wang Ziying made a striking statement in the women's wheelchair tennis at the US Open, dispatching Colombia's Angelica Bernal with clinical efficiency.

World number four Wang dismantled the seventh seed with a blend of precision and poise, firing 19 winners against a mere two unforced errors. The match was over in 49 minutes with Wang cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory that left little doubt about her dominance on the international circuit.

Next up for Wang is a formidable test: a semi-final showdown with Japan's world number one, Yui Kamiji.

Meanwhile, the all-Chinese quarter-final between Li Xiaohui and Zhu Zhenzhen unfolded as a battle not just between athletes, but against the elements. The swirling wind proved a mischievous adversary and Zhu's serve was twice disrupted as the ball hit her wheelchair.

Li, seeded third, leaned on her wealth of experience and tactical acumen. Despite dropping the first set 6-3, she rallied fiercely, edging a tense second set 7-6 before dominating the decider 6-1. Her comeback secured a semi-final berth against the Netherlands' second seed Aniek Van Koot.
