China held a massive military parade in Beijing on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, reaffirming the nation's commitment to peaceful development amid global uncertainties. Yves Leterme, the former Belgian prime minister, after attending China's Victory Day parade, had three impressions: the speed of development, the volume of progress and the scale of achievements. He cited China's achievements in eradicating extreme poverty, advancing science and technology and its global contributions.
