At the Marselisborg Memorial Park in Aarhus, Denmark, a bronze statue quietly watches over passersby. It commemorates Bernhard Arp Sindberg, an ordinary young Dane who, together with his colleagues, sheltered around 20,000 Chinese civilians during the Nanjing Massacre in 1937 and used his camera and letters to reveal the atrocities to the world.
