In a recent exclusive interview, Danny Quah, professor of economics at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, predicted that as the United States' relative strength declines and the East continues to maintain a strong development momentum, the global center of gravity is set to shift further eastward. This process could even become a reality as early as 2050. Professor Quah further pointed out that although China's economic growth rate has stepped down from the double-digit era, its annual contribution to global GDP remains substantial. Given current developmental trends, the world's economic center of gravity will ultimately settle in the GMT+8 time zone.
