Greater Bay Area's marine health shows promising improvement, 2024 report reveals

The South China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, together with local authorities, released the 2024 Report on Marine Ecological Status of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on Monday. The document highlights the ongoing efforts to protect the region's marine environment. According to the report, overall marine conditions in the Greater Bay Area remain stable and continue to improve. Coral reef and mangrove ecosystems are predominantly in excellent condition, while estuary and bay ecosystems are mostly stable. Rare marine species, including Chinese white dolphins and sea turtles, have been effectively protected.
